The title of this moving memoir is aptly chosen; Rodney L. Fresh Sr. had much to overcome. Born into underprivileged circumstances and with a childhood marred by abuse, Rodney could well have turned out wrong. But he graduates from college, and supported by his family and Christian faith, he carves out a career as a successful police officer. As such, he devotes his energies to helping those of his African American brothers and sisters who have (and how easy it can be) fallen foul of our legal system. Rodney's story is inspirational, especially to Black Americans. Told with modesty, this intensely personal narrative leaves us feeling just that bit better about our fellow man.
