Archaeologist Kari Stone and a squad of heavily armed space marines journey to the very edge of the galaxy on a mission to discover a treasure trove of information left by a long vanished race of builders. Landing on the Band, a black ribbon of Architect engineering, the expedition is attacked by a mysterious life form and terrifying alien creatures with a thirst for blood. It's an all-out battle for survival and the landing party face utter annihilation unless Kari can solve the secret the Architects wished to remain hidden.
