Sussing Life and the Oracle




Sussing Life describes in three steps how I have tried to follow the Oracle of Delphi's instruction to "Know Myself".




Personalities

Contemplating personality types helped me to understand myself and other people, develop my interpersonal skills and understand my inner nature. The word personality comes from Latin persona meaning a mask. Human beings are all made of the same stuff, but manifest with different masks, strengths, weaknesses, and habitual tendencies.




Skills

Contemplating personality types helped me recognise my strengths to build on, and weaknesses and habits I needed to manage. I saw clearly, how to improve a wide range of interpersonal skills.




Happiness

When I looked carefully within, I saw that behind my mask I am not my 'personality'. I saw clearly that my thoughts, emotions, habitual reactions, and actions are what I do, not what I am. What I am is awareness or consciousness and I was delighted to find this world view is supported by some leading scientists and non-scientific thinkers. Sussing Life has given me a happy understanding of myself, other people, and the world. May it do the same for you.
