On April Fool's Day 2015, married pharmacist Tilly Wurman gets a surprise text message; one that definitely isn't a joke. Her ex-girlfriend Joyce Peng has been forced out of her Holborn flat by an underground fire and needs somewhere to stay the night. It soon becomes clear that something isn't right with Joyce. So, when Joyce's dead body is discovered a few days later, it looks like an open and shut case of suicide. But is everything really what it seems?




In another part of London, just returned from a year-long trip to India, Catherine Roxborough also gets a surprise when a man appears at her kitchen window and smashes the glass. Recently separated from her fiancé, Catherine lives alone and is terrified that a stalker is lurking in the shadows.




These two very different mysteries bring two very different men to London.
