AS A TEACHER and also an examiner and adjudicator in the exciting realm of Speech and Drama, author Eleanor McLeod is all too aware of how difficult it is to find original and appealing scenes for young performers. This collection of monologues is based on characters from familiar fairy stories, many by Hans Anderson and The Brothers Grimm, where the author has taken a slightly different slant, often to modernise the characters and add a touch of humour. So, we have the Mother Bear who is all too aware of compensation culture, or Red Riding Hood's Grandma being hounded by the press! Others are more traditional. All of them have already been performed by keen young actors and actresses so we have already seen how they translate into entertaining and captivating performances.
