In the near future, the Block is at war with the Fracture as it bids to shape humanity's destiny. Casualties of this war are too numerous to be counted. In an anonymous metropolis, Jason awakes to find himself sprawled in the street. He has no idea who he is, what he is or how he got there - but he quickly finds out that he's in danger. After meeting Lee in a chance encounter, the two youths unite to find a way out of the city to one of the communes - self-sufficient societies that have rejected life in the city. But why is Jason being hunted? And how far will he and Lee have to go to ensure their own survival?
