From an early age, Adrian van der Sluijs has been interested in the development of society. He has striven to acquaint himself with the customs of various countries from around the world and to observe how different cultures advance, adapt and evolve within their own specific conditions. This experience has led him to seek the answers to some of the most rudimentary, yet intriguing questions which have provided the impetus towards civilization since the early days of man: How can we make sense of our life? Who do we ask? Where do we look? In Creeds and Facts, van der Sluijs draws upon his experiences as a petroleum/hydrogeologist to engage these questions. Spanning arguments from across the mythological and scientific spectrum, he places current religious teachings against various scientific theories to present a modern socio-anthropological twist on the most primordial of questions.
