Alpha Centauri, Cracksman, Laurens, Roaring Lion, Stradivarius, Too Darn Hot, and the great Enable - just some of the stars that made the 2018 flat racing season one to remember.

One Irish trainer sent out 13 individual Group 1 winners, an English trainer struck gold with 10 different horses, and another had five end-of-year champions in his yard. Two broodmares were represented by two Group 1 winners apiece, one stallion had seven, another had five, and one UK-based broodmare sire was responsible for a remarkable total of eight!

In all, 66 horses won a Group 1 race in Europe in 2018 and another 11 European-trained horses won at least one on another continent. Each has been discussed in an essay that recaps their racing career to date, examines their pedigree, and comments on their future prospects. Some are now gone to stud, but many of them will be back in action in 2019.
