Along the way, she encounters a young, vibrant and intelligent new San Jose Homicide detective Gina Selby who recently returned back to work following the murder of her younger brother by the hand of serial killer. Burden by the quilt Gina befriends Kate and together they join forces in order to solve both cases as clues indicate that answer to one mystery can be linked to the answer of the other.
