Some people wear pain on their face. You can hear it in the way that their voice trembles or the way they hang their head when they think no one's watching. Sydney Washington writes about her pain in the pages of this book. I'm a black girl and we're not allowed to cry. As far back as she can remember, black women haven't been treated fair and they still face injustices every single day. They say we are the hardest to love and it's a good thing to be strong and independent. We're just expected to process our trauma differently. "No tears, hold your chin up queen."
