healing occurs on mundane mornings where my actions feel monotonous and predictable. waiting impatiently for a change. it occurs in the evening when i slice through cold raw chicken breast and the knife dauntingly hits the cutting board. healing occurs when my son has pneumonia, but doctors refuse to diagnose him because it's not showing up in his x-rays the way it's showing up in my intuition so in my quest for the answer i show up at the ER three times. diligent, i begin to find reason to trust myself again. healing occurs when there are no messages from a man in the morning, or the evening, and the only thing wrapping itself around me is the grey and yellow blanket my mother bought me for christmas a few years back. healing occurs in my therapy sessions when i am challenged to question my current patterns of thinking and beliefs. healing occurs when i don't need to have a roundtable discussion for every decision i anticipate because i am managing to stand on common ground with my own judgement. healing occurs in what i often overlook. a combination of perseverance and resilience and the audacity to believe that the way i've been living, thinking, breathing no longer benefits me.healing occurs without witness.
