Now Maeve's impressed by science, too, as she and her friend Alice take a summer field trip to Oxford to visit Cavendish Laboratories and visit Girton College, where, amazingly, women are students! But magical things still seem to find their way to Maeve, like a pair of flea-market hand mirrors that turn out to have special qualities. When Maeve and Alice look in the mirrors at exactly the same moment, they can see and hear one another!
