Devavrat Bheeshma also known as Pitamah Bheeshma is the most illustrious character of epic Mahabharata. As per legend he was the eighth vasu in his previous birth and as a curse of his misdeeds has come in human embodiment, as son of King Shantanu & Goddess Ganga. He sacrificed everything for the happiness of his father and always lived for others. But in this process many times he forgot the path of righteousness and justice which became the cause of his sufferings. As Pitamah he should have been away from the battle between two brothers but he sided the side of Adharma. But to favour side of dharma he told the path of his own death. He is a revered for his providence which made him Bheeshma.
