The Eyes of Love Deeping

Jesse Falconer is a large and quiet man, prone to thinking. He isn't much of a farmer, and the farm being in financial difficulties, his wife doesn't think much of him as a man, either. On the verge of losing the farm, another catastrophe occurs; an accident which blinds Jesse. Any hope for rekindled love dies with the loss of his eyes. Labeled by his wife as completely useless, he is settled in a chair in front of the fire to pass the days away, while she takes over the successful running of the farm. A stray dog, saved from drowning, becomes Jesse's closest companion. Also, a young woman is hired as home help and her genuine kindness touches Jesse's heart. When Jesse's wife 'moves on" in her affections, the home situation reaches a climactic turning point and Jesse packs his bags... Ann, the hired help, is told to remain but instead, follows him like the biblical Ruth with Naomi, on what becomes a tramping trip of many months.
