After the Gulls Came is one such tale. When a mysterious stranger seeks work on his father's farm, Jesse finds himself pulled to this stranger and less dependent upon his father. He begins to question the future and his place in it. He begins to form his own opinions about how people should be treated and how he can make a difference. He learns what is important and life goes on...even when life brings pain.
