A moving life story of a couple who marry too young to grow up together; their passionate love affair soon dies as social and money problems rear their ugly head, coupled with an unexpected pregnancy and the onset of mental health issues. Their story is told in an original way via silent thought; the main character, Pippa, now frail, ill and unable to speak, drifts in and out of drugged sleep as she thinks back over her life, trying to make sense of events that took hold of her and her young husband. Painful though some of the memories are, she knows she must recognise the real emotions entailed and acknowledge the mistakes made by both of them; she needs to accept their frailties before she can find some solace and peace as her life draws to a close.
