The 2 Chronicles is the genealogical background of the Israelites, the coming of the Messiah, and a history of the kingdom of Judah and the ancestors of Jesus Christ. The purpose of this book is to show the divine reason for the dealings of God with Israel and why the Davidic kingdom was not allowed to continue perpetually. David's kingdom was divided after Solomon's death because of the idolatry in the nation. Prayer is the only answer to bringing hope and deliverance. When the king and his people prayed to God for deliverance and they turned from their sinful ways, God delivered them. God will still answer prayers today.
