Toinette loves daydreaming - one of her dreams is to be a good person, so good that everyone, especially her siblings, would love her dearly and never be disagreeable. But when someone calls her back from her dreams, she feels disturbed and reacts fractiously. Then, at Christmas Eve, Toinette helps a little elf to solve a problem and gets an elfish gift in return. It's not at once obvious what a great gift this is, but it makes her wish come true. This heartwarming story is a typical moral children's tale from the 19th century.
