Life moves fast in Africa, and as a young Rhodesian policeman Tom soon becomes involved in the struggle for independence as the 'Winds of Change' sweep through the continent. He falls in love, marries and after three years in the police force leaves to pursue his love of farming. When terrorist attacks on farmers begin he joins the Police Anti Terrorist Unit. The black policeman, Lucas, who worked with him in the police force, joins his unit and for the next 12 years they are involved in the Rhodesian 'Bush War'. During this time while on patrol Tom and his unit come in 'contact' with terrorists on a number of occasions and are involved in, contacts, ambushes, land mines and skirmishes. Over the years Tom and Lucas cross paths on a number of occasions with Mamba, a terrorist leader who loses his leg when an ambush he sets goes wrong, and swears to get his revenge on those responsible. During this time Tom suffers a great personal loss when his wife is killed in an ambush.20 years after the war had ended and Zimbabwe has gained independence, the two men are happily settled on their farms farm invasions begin and they cross paths once again with the ex-guerrilla. But now the situation is reversed and Mamba has the upper hand. He becomes a threat to the lives of both men and their families. This has to be dealt with before they become victims of the war-vet's hatred. A thrilling tale set in Africa during troubles times and tells of the horrors of war, times of peace and the bravery and terror experienced by farmers and their families when their farms are invaded by aggressive war veterans and 'Green Bombers'
