The Worthington dynasty of Bois D'Arc is nearing its end. Randolph Worthington III dies and passes the baton to his son John, the family's last male heir. Cass Worthington Miller's husband, Rod, takes over RJ Systems when Jack Workman, his mentor and company founder, has a stroke. The new responsibility causes friction with Cass, who has to compete with the company for his time and attention.
