Last time around, it was Boston Red Sox star centerfielder Willie Starmaker. This time, it's the Los Angeles Dodgers' rookie sensation, Colt Alexander, a case that's keeping the detectives up at night.

People close to young Alexander's seemingly heroic military past keep turning up dead, murdered in grisly and torturous ways.

The chase to find the killer before he completes his grisly vendetta will take Hodges, Furillo, and other allies on a chase from the East Coast to the West Coast, and into the depths of depravity.

A former Marine, Jim Bauckham has retired from IT management and recently retired from playing competitive baseball as a pitcher. Raised in New Jersey, he now lives with his wife of 38 years in Raleigh, North Carolina. They have three grown children, one of whom is a captain in the Marines.
