While death is the ultimate outcome for any living being, the afterlife is a much more ephemeral situation. While every culture and religion has its own personal comprehension of an afterlife, the multitude of answers to this question means that the curious individual should do some research on those different states, such as Heaven, Purgatory, Hell, Nirvana, Valhalla, the Elysian Fields, et cetera, and then to look inward and see what that individual feels to be true. In more practical terms, you can always prepare for your passing. If you have a lot of possessions or you want to make things easier on your surviving friends and loved ones, look into writing up a will; someone that passes away without a will is considered to be intestate. Avoiding intestate status means that you will be saving those people a world of trouble in dealing with probate courts in order to appoint an executor to your estate. The most basic stance to have on human mortality is to live healthily; exercise regularly, get into a regular sleep schedule, follow the proper nutrition guidelines in your eating habits, etc. Death comes to all, but you can certainly slow its arrival.
