Unfortunately, young Vhera has already known heartache of the worst kind. Her parents have been taken far away from her to a place where it is impossible for her to go. Although she is now fiercely protected by her guardian Daelan, even he cannot defend her from abuse by her fellow elementary school students and teacher who all believe she is a cursebringer.

One day after Vhera is condemned to a room in her school, a kindly fellow student joins her. After they decide to play chess, it is not long before they hear a marching sound and he urges her to lock herself in the room for safety. When she emerges, everything changes. As Vhera discovers her otherworldly abilities while defending herself from sudden attacks by soldiers of the UH, she seeks to uncover the truth of her existence and destiny by retracing her origins with the help of Daelan. But as she embarks on a dangerous journey, Vhera has no idea that the horrors of the world will soon unravel a greater truth than her own.

In this science fiction thriller, a girl either born or destined with special abilities must use them to her advantage to save those she cares about the most.
