Twelve-year-old Emily lives with her family, just outside Midland, Michigan. She has the coolest grandpa ever because he teaches her how to do fun things!
One night while they are attending a wedding, Papa LeRoy asks Emily to stand on his shoes so he can teach her how to dance. As he moves his feet to the music, Papa LeRoy guides Emily around the dance floor and eventually encourages her to dance on her own. It is not long before she is moving her feet, right along with his! With Papa LeRoy's guidance, Emily twirls through her childhood and beyond without any idea that one day she will teach her son the same skills.
