Danny the Woodpecker is tired of living in the highlands of County Buckram, where there is little sunshine and no excitement. He chooses to set out with a better place in mind-Concord Vale, which he has heard is an exciting place with lots of farms, woodlands, cotton fields, and fun things to do. As he journeys to find a new home, Danny the Woodpecker has some wonderful adventures. He visits different places and sees lots of amazing things. He meets new friends, including the Weevil family of insects; Mr. Foster, a tree farmer; and Mr. Foster's daughter, Jessica. As Danny looks for ways to help Mr. Foster, he discovers that kindness and friendship are the keys to building a new life for himself. A good home can help anyone feel safe and loved, and Danny will do what it takes to make his dreams come true. This children's story tells the tale of a woodpecker who travels a long way to find a new home and makes new friends while doing his best to help others.
