When the sisters lose their father and brother and their mother is unable to cope, Corinne and Jenny have only the old cowboy, Dan, to turn to for guidance. Dan applies the understanding he has of handling young animals and does the best he knows how for the girls, for the threatened horses that they love, and for all concerned. But he has to wonder, does he do a good job, or would professional counselling have been better?
