The Church enters renewal only when we members are individually ready to experience a relationship with Jesus, and walk together, sharing the faith adventures that await us. We need to be affirmed by good sermons and teaching, then launch out on the waters. Most of us want to stay safe in the harbor, forgetting that neither ships nor we were created for safe harbors. Our priority is love and obedience in Jesus Christ, our Redeemer. God has prepared works for us and offers spiritual gifts to help us on the journey, along with safety and protection through intercessory prayers for each other. These gifts of the Spirit are not just natural talents and developed skills, although some may be foundational. They are amazing abilities that cannot be acquired through a college education but rather, are imparted by the Holy Spirit and developed by a disciplined life in the Spirit. Discipleship starts where we are and takes us deeper and higher than we ever thought possible. We are free to travel as swiftly and as far as the Spirit permits, with rest along the way. With our consent, the Holy Spirit takes us gently and firmly into God's greater glory.
