The field of physics which studies characteristics and properties of glass is known as glass physics. Glass transition is the reversible and gradual transition in amorphous liquids from a brittle glassy stage into viscous stage. Its transition takes place when the temperature is increased. The temperature at which it takes place is called its glass transition temperature. Glass defects are central to glass physics.
