He is the rock star of the science community partially for his father's fame as well as for his own accomplishments. When a colleague of his says in a news conference that there will never be a cure for cancer in his own lifetime, Less finds this statement irresponsible and a challenge to himself. His unique mind and today's technology are both necessary for the journey. This cerebral adventure navigates through the science and religious questions of the day. Less's only wish is that he had found the cure in time to save his own mother who died of cancer when he was young.
