Betrayed by Country, Betrayed by Blue, Redeemed by God Haydee Santana

I was the average Hispanic female that can be found in many inner cities in America. Growing up in poverty and all the trimmings that come with that, I was determined to make my life better and not repeat the cycle. By the grace of God, I managed to make decisions that allowed me to break the cycle and become a productive citizen. Because of inner strongholds and fantastical hopes, I managed to dig pits that made my life harder than it had to be, but somehow I always managed to get through. Even through a career as a police officer in the same inner city that groomed me. Later realizing that the Lord had always been protecting and guiding me, I dedicated my life to him.
Little did I know that all the plans that I had made, all the things I believed about my career, the trust that I had in my country, my department, and my life would be twisted and blown apart. My faith would be tested in every way imaginable. The valley was long, dark, and empty. Alone in the battle, I held on to Jesus for the fight of my life and everything I had worked so hard for. He came through in the most complete way and kept all the promises he made to his children in the Word of God. In the end, my renewed strength, my new unquestioning hope, and my life will be forever indebted to my one and only savior, Jesus Christ.
