The European Union is a grouping of twenty-seven countries that trade and allow their citizens to move freely between nations to work and live. The withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union and the European Atomic Energy Community is termed as Brexit. It is a portmanteau of Britain Exit. Factors such as immigration of migrants from poorer European Union states and the fear of refugees intensified skepticism among voters and the politicians which ultimately led to Brexit after a nationwide referendum. There are two major approaches towards Brexit, namely, hard Brexit and soft Brexit. Hard Brexit refers to the political opinion wherein the UK withdraws from the EU customs union.
