Leaving the rodeo circuit and his drinking behind, Wyatt Long has settled in a cabin on the quiet shores of Lost Lake. When his pa, Rowdy Long, who abandoned him as a child, shows up unexpectedly in Buttermilk Falls, forgiveness is far from certain.
Wyatt buys some run-down hunter's cabins to restore as a lakeside resort, and helps Amy, the town's vet, unravel the mystery of her pet crow, Inky's found jewelry.
Meanwhile, Sheriff Buck Buchanan is blindsided by the unexpected electricity radiating between him and flashy Gloria Gilbert, newly arrived owner of Sparkles--a store specializing in turning cast-off trash into treasure. She's not at all his type. Besides, he has his hands full trying to protect the interests of Mildred Stein, an elderly widow whose mind is failing, but whose heart is set on seeing her property turned into a park for the town. Mildred's neglectful son wants to sell her land to a big-box store, jeopardizing the shops and small town character of Buttermilk Falls.
Can the tranquil waters of Lost Lake and the haunting call of a loon restore the broken pieces of family and lead wounded souls to finally trust in love?

Patricia Hartmann is the author of historical romances: The Ojai--Pink Moment Promises, and Yosemite--One Last Golden Summer, and romance novels: Secrets of Sandpiper Cove, Lonesome Mountain, and Lost Lake, the sequel to Lonesome Mountain.
She lives with her husband in Ojai, California in a 160-year-old farmhouse on a ranch where they grow pixie tangerines and feed a wild rabbit named Honey Bunny. Patricia treasures the warmth of small town life where shopkeepers know your name, as well as your business, and where no one is in too much of a hurry to stop and chat.
They have a his/mine/and ours family of eight children, fifteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Patricia is a teacher, writer, artist, and farmer whose signature is to paint the artwork for each of her book covers.
