In this post-apocolyptic thriller biological warfare has reached the United States and decimated its population. Alma Attaway is one of the few survivors, but has not seen another living soul for a long time. In a desperate attempt to be reunited with family and seek new meaning in a harsh and cruel, tooth, fang and claw world, she must journey across the U. S. in search of her brother, Alex, whom she believes is still alive. She meets up with a young woman, Cassidy, and they journey from Utah to Virginia Beach together. They find Alex and set up a small community out in the country.
