She began writing verses at the young age of seven. She wrote many hymns including the well know one: "Take My Life and Let It Be." Other hymns written by her include: "Like A River Glorious,""I Gave My Life for Thee,"and "Who Is on the Lord's Side?" as well as others. She published several volumes of poems and hymns.
