Key to Great Parenting Discovered in Ancient Writings

LONGWOOD, FL?Looking for a way, in this day and age, to strengthen the family? To raise children in "the nurture and admonition of the Lord"? Solomon's Gift: A Father's Hope, A Son's Dream, A Legacy (July, $10.99, 1-59781-383-4, $18.99, 1-59781-384-2), by Gerald R. Kaufman, takes readers back to the days of David and Solomon, exploring how a parent (especially, but not limited to, fathers) can create a home environment conducive to positive spiritual growth. This timely how-to guide is the only book of its kind (save the Bible) to explore the relationship/perspective between David and Solomon as father and son.

David was said to be a man after God's own heart, and Solomon is described as the wisest man who ever lived. David loved God and wanted Solomon to have a strong relationship with God, so he created an environment that would ensure Solomon would see his father's relationship with God and emulate it. Using the relationship between David and Solomon as a guide, you can learn how to leave a Christian legacy for your children. One area Kaufman examines is parents? environmental choices. These include physical surroundings (the home and neighborhood where the living quarters are located) and mental and spiritual surroundings, which include the parents? lifestyles, their interaction with the children, and their relationship with God. Solomon?s Gift is designed to be used as a home group study, but it can be used as an individual study as well. Exploratory questions are included at the end of each chapter.

Gerald R. Kaufman is the president of a small-business management company in Kentucky.
