Lillian's Fish
James Menk
Little Lillian lives with her mother and father, aunt and uncle, seven brothers and their seven pets - a dog, a horse, a cat, a turtle, a bird, a goat, and a giant spider - all gifts given to the boys on their sixth birthdays. And when Lillian turns six, she receives her own pet, a fish - not an ordinary fish but an extraordinary fish with all the colors of the rainbow on her body, colors that ripple and shimmer as she swims about. In fact, all of the animals are quite amazed.
On day, to the extreme dismay of Lillian, her seven brothers, and all of the pets, the fish leaps so high that she lands in a neighboring stream and begins to swim away from home. The animals then embark on an exciting, amusing adventure, following the river downstream in search of Lillian's fish. After four days of dedicated searching, the animals are about to abandon their quest when a familiar streak of bright colors catches their eyes. Could this be their long lost friend?
