STARKAD THE PEACEBREAKER
Rescued from the storm by the Saxon king Frodi, Starkad becomes land warden of an empire that includes Saxon and Danish dominions. After the Danes throw off the Saxon yoke and slay Frodi, Starkad is sickened to see his son and successor neglect his filial duty as far as to make peace with the Danes. There is even talk of a marriage alliance between the two royal houses. Unwillingly Starkad keeps the peace, until he can contain himself no longer.
