Islam literally means Peace. However, Islamic culture presents itself as something quite unknown and mysterious to much of the rest of the international community. Partly driven by this emptiness, and partly influenced by a growing interest in the history of the Islamic community over the years (especially for its mysterious foundational history, as well as the years of the first caliphs), I conceived in its Day a study that intended to explain, if only succinctly, the history of Islam, and that of its people, during the Middle Ages.
