Getting to Know you AFTER I Say, "I Do" discusses how good marriages don't just happen automatically; they happen when individuals intentionally work on their relationship. When couples first get married, they experience the honeymoon phase that can be a wave of fun and exciting emotions, but couples can come to a major crash when real life sets in. Many factors contribute to a satisfying marriage relationship, but one of the most important factors is having a willingness and an ability to compromise. This book discusses the importance of being in a loving commitment while working toward making it healthy and whole.


Remember, marriage is God's design. God said in Genesis 2:18 that it was not good that man be left alone but that he was going to make him a help meet. Having a solid Christian marriage takes time and attention.

Dr. Darlene Turner founded the Christian Counseling Center, Inc., in 2006 in West Des Moines, Iowa. She has counseling experience with children, teens, adults, couples, and families. She has also spoken at Christian marriage conferences, women's conferences, and to general audiences on the topics of health, marriage relationships, family relationships, and encouragement for women. She is a member of the American Association of Christian Therapists and is ordained to minister the gospel. She has a Master's in Social Work and a Doctorate in Nouthetic Counseling.
