When Madison Brown inherited his decaying family farm, he was still a young man -- but felt very old. Plagued with constant attacks from nature: insects, weather, blight, along with poor market price risks, he wanted to quit. He did love to work in the fields, and watch the healthy new crops of corn and wheat! Yet, when he returned home exhausted each night he felt no joy in his work or life. Having dropped out of school to help at home, he lost all social ties that might have led to marriage. Now he was alone and did not know how to pray for a solution or to whom. Then one day, something happened that he had never expected! He had to make a choice to follow a new road with the risk of losing the little that he had. Otherwise, he had to continue in the sad, solitary life he now led. He was so afraid!
