A 100-year-old bark sails across the South Atlantic, from Cape Town to Ascension Island. Two trainees, Sonia and Alex, have come on board to flee a torturous past and are searching for enlightenment in their lives. Sonia, a young South African woman, believes that she killed her husband. Alex, a hugely successful impresario, wants to get back the woman he loves. They share the grueling routines of watch duties and become friends, but hide their secrets. Prompted by a devastating storm Sonia admits her guilt. Alex, fighting a crippling fatigue, resists to bare his soul until he breaks down. They may not make it to Ascension Island...
