Teke Manion has just accepted a new position at his company. As the "Expeditor," he will travel around the world to gather intelligence for WorldSpan Underwriters, often getting into dicey situations along the way. Teke's first destination is small-town North Carolina-not exactly the exotic locale he'd pictured. But even small towns can have long-buried secrets.

Benoitown and Gilleyville have just experienced a hurricane that left behind damage, debris...and gold. Rumor has it that Riverside Graveyard is where the pirate Jolly Benoit hid his treasure. After the hurricane, gold shows up in the cemetery, prompting speculators and media to descend on the two small towns. Not long after, the murders begin. With his international team from WorldSpan and the assistance of the townspeople, Teke must sort through the secrets driving the different claims on the gold-and discover who is killing off other interested parties. But when everyone has a secret, can Teke find the murderer in time?
