This manual provides guidance to commanders and staff officers in the conduct of denial operations and the employment of barriers in a theater of operations. It sets forth responsibilities, principles of employment, and procedures for planning and coordinating the conduct of denial operations and the employment of barriers at various command echelons. This manual does not include, in its discussion of barriers, guidance and doctrine on the emplacement of individual obstacles for local security.
