This is not a story for the weak. Most children are loved and kept safe but a few are abused, neglected and belittled. Three of these young victims decide to fight back against an uncaring and cruel world. Their antagonists are often the very people who should nurture and love them. Carla, Dean and Lyle are bonded together by their deep devotion to each other and whatever mystical strength the Sun, Moon and North Star can give them. They are forced by circumstances to resort to murderous survival tactics. From the ages of ten to sixteen they survive on the criminal edge of life. Carla leads her two boys from one battle to another and by the end, they survive - mostly.
