Daisha finds that her ambition has died along with her husband. When he was lost in combat two years earlier, leaving not even a body to bring home, she stopped believing that she could accomplish anything in her life. She'd once dreamed of dancing in front of thousands, a peer of the great ballerinas. Now, she lives quietly in her small apartment, keeps her head down, and does her job. She professes little interest for new experiences and adventures.

Her best friend, James, doesn't believe this. He has known Daisha since high school and encourages her to start enjoying herself again. Her girlfriends agree, finally persuading her to go on a blind date. There, she meets Eric, whose passion inspires her to start dreaming once again. Daisha wants to audition for the Alvin Ailey Dance Company, but at the age of thirty-one, she would be the oldest dancer there. Could she possibly have another chance at happiness, or has life passed her by? Is it really too late?
