There are many ways that a person can find out about words. When I was younger and didn't know how to spell a word or understand its meaning, my Mom would always say, "Look it up!" I would always go look it up and viola; I would learn the spelling and meaning of the word. My Mom was right and I am so glad she directed me to the dictionary verses just telling me what the word meant. It was short-term pain for long-term gain! My vocabulary increased and I had an excellent tool at my disposal 24/7! The art of using a dictionary is not dead! It is time to take your dictionary off the shelf, dust it off and use it. The best-known way to find out about a word is to use a dictionary. I wrote this workbook for my own children so they could understand how to use the dictionary and increase their vocabulary.
