Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Patty Alfonso grew up in an upper-middle class Latin home. A seemingly perfect family on the outside, they had everything money could buy. Beyond the veil of perfection, a controlling mother and an alcoholic father created a childhood filled with fear, rage and missing pieces of time. At a young age, Patty learned what was the "right" way to behave in her family. She created a tiny little box where she stuffed her dreams, her desires and her inner fire. Over two decades of hiding led her to abusive relationships, drugs and drinking. Ultimately Patty knew she would die if she kept choosing this path.
