La luna recrea la noche con su hermosa presencia. Sin embargo, ella esta muy sola y triste. Un niño sensible a los sentimientos de la luna, junto a sus animales, trata de ayudarla. Ellos deciden traer a un nuevo amigo para acompañarla: el sol.

El cuento narra la idea de eventos naturales. Algunas veces el sol y la luna están muy cerca uno del otro para ofrecerle al cielo una imagen de calma y brillo.

El libro recrea el sol y la luna en coloridos paisajes, y divertidas animaciones de animales en ambientes naturales. El libro destaca emociones humanas a la par de enseñar que los niños pueden ayudar si están atentos a los sentimientos de otros. Complementación de roles y cooperación son abordados a través del cuento.
