I have enjoyed writing poetry and odes since my enthusiastic schoolteacher who taught English language and literature encouraged me to do so at the age of fourteen. So, belated thanks, Mr Quinn. And thanks also to my cat, my dear family and my circle of wonderful friends who never cease to amaze me. Unwittingly, they have provided the incidents, which have brought about the ?Sunshine.? The ?Showers? are poems I have written as the moments have taken me; whether it was something reported in the news, a television programme, or something, which has touched my life. Along with each piece of work I have written a short explanation as to how it came about, and I hope you will find the book interesting, maybe even funny, to bring a smile to your face ? though not for you to be upset by the works which are more serious. Selecting the order of presentation was not straightforward: all ?sunshine? together? All ?showers? together? Perhaps one humorous, one serious, alternating? In the end I chose the good old-fashioned and simple remedy- alphabetically. And I have included a few surprise works, which gave me a feel-good factor. In the one word uttered by staff waiting on table when you dine in a restaurant. ENJOY!!!!!
