Though I will not tout this piece as the end-of-all self-help books, I do believe the combination of honesty, frank language, and a direct and open approach to discussing certain issues will be extremely helpful to the many that will invest in their lives by getting this book... I am just a regular guy who has gone through a lot of things like anyone else; discrimination, failure, growing up with divorced parents, abuse, rejection, heartbreaks, disappointing those that care for me the most, low-self esteem, underachieving, living a stale & mediocre life, trying to change who I was to be accepted, betrayal by those close to me, betraying others myself, unfulfilled dreams, settling for less, dysfunctional relationships, severe family conflict, trying to wear a smile over a miserable heart, etc. I have also witnessed other people go through things. In truth, many of us have dealt with hardships that span the spectrum of pain, suffering, and hopelessness. Yet, while some people overcome and go on to lead successful and productive lives, others become trapped and live lives full of frustration, regret, bitterness and jump from one failed relationship to the next. Why? It must be in the response of how we decide to deal with these issues we face; we deal with them in a healthy and effective way, ignore them and mistakenly hope that they disappear, or we put all the blame on something or someone else. That's what this book is all about. It discusses how to look over your life, find out where the source of certain issues and dysfunctions are located, and gives you the tools to successfully get past them and build a better you. There is indeed a better, happier, more productive you on the inside. However, there are many reasons why he/she lies dormant within you. Why wonder about unfulfilled potential in terms of being a part of a meaningful and functional relationship, being able to finally focus long enough to follow your dreams, or even getting past the resentment and bitterness trapped in your heart any longer?
